MY MINI BIOGRAPHY

Here's a bit about myself:

My name is Richard McVeigh and I'm 17 years old, currently studying towards my AS-levels at St. Mary's RC High School, Chesterfield. I am studying Music, IT and Business Studies (as well as compulsory subjects like RE and Italian). In my free time I play the Piano, Organ, I build computers, play sport, eat, sleep and eat again.

I have been playing the organ for 4 years at the 'Crooked Spire' in Chesterfield. My tutor is Mr. Ian Brackenbury who is a Fellow to the Royal College of Organists. I am about to take my grade 8 for which I am hoping for a distinction (not being big-headed!). My favorite composers are Marcel Dupré, Maurice Duruflé, Charles Tournemire, Max Reger, Jean Langlais and Louis Vierne - so mostly, all French composers!

My organ repertoire and experience is quite varied. I already have quite a large library of organ music, the latest investment was Dupré's 'Variations Sur un Vieux Nöel' which I have been asked to play at a Christmas concert in the spire this year. I have been to a number of venues during the past years, I have managed to play the organs of York Minster, Westminster Abbey, St. George's Chapel Windsor, St. Paul's Cathedral, Truro Cathedral, Liverpool Cathedral, Lincoln Minster and Salisbury Cathedral. As the choir at the Crooked Spire' go on trips to Cathedrals, Minsters and Abbeys each year, I get the opportunity to play the organ there.

I am a budding composer, composing for the Organ and church choral music. Mr. Ian Brackenbury and Mr. Hanwell are very helpful in this aspect which I appreciate greatly.
